Quantifying damage in composite vehicle components supports the assessment of structural integrity and in particular residual life.  A high level of confidence can be achieved through good quality validation.
ADVISE has developed a general Guide to damage quantification.

Validating numerical simulations using experimental data entails the comparison of data rich maps of deformation or strain. ADVISE has developed a generic Guideline for validation that is based on data comparison using shape descriptors and feature vectors.

Measurement of dynamic events using full-field techniques is an essential task in validating dynamic simulations. ADVISE has issued a Draft standard guide for optical deformation measurements in dynamic events, including DIC (Digital Image Correlation), TSA (Thermoelastic Stress Analysis) and DSPI (Digital Speckle Pattern Interferometry).
